Development of New Mixed-Metal Ruthenium and Iridium Oxides as Electrocatalysts for Oxygen Evolution: Part I : Survey of crystal structures and synthesis methods

چکیده
We review recent research into oxides of platinum group metals (pgms), in particular those ruthenium and iridium, for use as electrocatalysts the oxygen evolution reaction (OER). These are used membrane electrode assemblies (MEAs) devices such electrolysers, water splitting to generate hydrogen fuel, fuel cells where they provide a buffer against carbon corrosion. In these situations, proton exchange (PEM) layers used, highly acid-resilient electrocatalyst materials required. The range structure types investigated includes perovskites, pyrochlores hexagonal perovskite-like phases, pgm is partnered by base complex chemical compositions. role synthesis discovery new oxide compositions emphasised, particularly yield powders processing MEAs.
